GOD of
GRACE, by whose HANDS we are provided, by whose hands we
are protected, by whose hands we are guided, shepherd us
through this day. Clothe us in the mantle of peace and
the serenity of Jesus Christ, in whose name we offer
this prayer.
You cannot
start a sentence more powerfully than by the word GOD.
HE IS OMNIPOTENT-ALL POWERFUL, OMNIPRESENT-EVERYWHERE,
OMNISCIENT-ALL KNOWING.
Then we
have the descriptive word (God of ) Grace. The word
Grace occurs over 100 times in the Bible but not in the
Gospels, in the Gospels we read of Graces i.e.. peace,
mercy, love, compassion, sympathy, concern,
understanding...
Hands - the hands of a potter moulding, reshaping,
making. In this prayer God is the provider from a
bountiful store. He is a protector - our refuge
(fortress) our strength a very present help (PS 46:) and
this is His promise, God not only keeps His promises,
but He also fulfils.
God has no
hidden agenda, He holds no secrets. Politicians promise
the earth, but consistently fail to deliver. Their
promises seem to enter a cul-de-sac of dead ends, there
to be strangled.
In this prayer and in the Bible God's promises are like
diamonds sparkling from a casket. Shepherd is used as a
verb. Unlike today's shepherds the divine shepherd LEADS
and His goodness and mercy are like two sheepdogs
companions all the way.
