'For I
know....that my....Redeemer liveth.'
Seven moving words from Job, a book I have described as
the
philosopher's work-shop.
1st For I know....A GLORIOUS CERTAINTY.
When the only certainty in this world is UNCERTAINTY,
the
Christian has a glorious certainty.
This is derived from experience, and NOT from
experiment.
In this phrase ' I know ' there is no hidden agenda, no
secrets.
Doubts and fears are kept at length.
This certainty is born of faith, the faith that
overcomes the
'giants'. Job trusted his God...Job was, "One who
feareth God
and shuns evil."
See chapter one, verses 1 and 8.
2nd that
my........A PERSONAL CLAIM.
The man/woman of God does not depend upon cold,
squabbling
international committees, nor upon puny systems.
'My' here indicates an acceptance of another.. an
abdication of self..
to claim a higher Being.
A semi-detached philosophy is made redundant. The
Christian
worships Not the UNKNOWN GOD, but a personal God.
'My' reflects, own, individual, undivided attention. We
can claim
that God is constantly, consistently, continuously in
TOUCH with
His own.
3rd
Redeemer liveth.. A GREAT COMFORT.
In 2002, I officiated at two funerals, a brother in
June, and a sister
in October. Funerals are a time of grieving, but the
Christian's
grieving is different, because their Redeemer liveth.
Redeemer is a tremendous theological term with deep
meaning.
Redeem means, to ransom, rescue, pardon, reclaim.
Our Redeemer, Jesus Christ, has, through His death and
resurrection,
EMPTIED death of its sting, the grave of its victory,
the sepulchre
of its claim.
WHAT A GREAT COMFORT!
